A paper bag poet
tacks words on a tree
for the walkers and joggers who pass.
His motive is simple:
to inspire the faint
whose faith seems unlikely to last.
With short pithy lyrics
on a brown paper sack,
the poet expresses his hope
in the beauty of nature
and the power of love
that enable the weary to cope.
But who reads his poems
that appear twice a week?
It’s unlikely that he’ll ever know.
Still, the poet finds pleasure
in posting his rhymes
that like seeds (given time)
start to grow.
